Dr. Read, is a board member of Joseph Sassoon Investment Management, and chairs the Advisory Board of J. Sassoon Financial Group. He has been a resource for regulatory agencies internationally, state governments, the US Congress, and the US Senate for over two decades and served as Chairman of the Investors’ Committee of the President’s Working Group on Financial Markets under Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson. He was named as one of America’s 30 most influential leaders in business and finance by Smart Money and #35 on Institutional Investor’s list of the 75 most effective chief investment executives. At APFC, among other awards, he was named the world’s top private equity investor by PEI Magazine and transformed the fund to a top 10% performer from a bottom quartile performer in less than three years.
Dr. Reed currently serves as the Chief Investment Officer of New York City-based 10X Capital, and is responsible for building its asset management business. Previously, Dr. Reed founded and led the C Change Group LLC, which focuses on global natural resources investment initiatives dedicated to materially transforming their production, distribution, and consumption since 2020.
Previously, Dr. Reed served as Chief Investment Officer for the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS), the largest pension system in the Americas (currently with $450 billion assets-under-management). He also served as Chief Investment Officer, Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation (APFC), the largest sovereign investment fund in the Americas (currently $80 billion in assets-undermanagement). And Chief Investment Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer for the Gulf Investment Corporation, the development investor for the six Gulf Cooperation Council countries of the Arabian Peninsula.
Dr. Reed was the Senior Advisor, for MSCI, Inc., the world’s leading provider of global equity indexes. Deputy Chief Investment Officer, Scudder Investments and Deutsche(bank) Asset Management ($250 billion in assets-under-management). Currently, Dr. Reed is a Board Member and Chair of the Investment Committee to MEASA Partners Ltd (a Mubadala-backed UAE initiative dedicated to bringing promising companies from the region public on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange) and is the Vice-Chairman of the Investment Funds Committee for the US State of Wyoming’s State Sovereign Wealth Funds. Dr. Reed is a Member of the Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee (REEEAC) Number 6 (2021 – 2022) for the US Department of Commerce under the auspices of Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, and Vice-Chair of the REEEAC’s Global Decarbonization Subcommittee.
Previously, Dr. Reed served as Trustee of the Hedge Fund Standards Board (HFSB) of the United Kingdom.
